The golden dome of Masjid Bandaraya is easy to photograph, but I would slow down before treating it as scenery. It began as Kuching's nineteenth-century Town Mosque and was once called the Pink Mosque because of its earlier colour. The present building is a later reconstruction and expansion: that change, tied to the city's Muslim community, is the story.
